Other writing services we offer

In addition to the weekly workshops for fiction and nonfiction writers, The WriteWorkshops faculty provide specialized programs that include:

Individualized online workshops

Our faculty work with many writers not physically located in New York City, via Skype, Zoom or phone.  It works the same way as our standard workshops, but on a private, individual basis: within 24 hours of your scheduled consultation provide us with your submission for that week; a WriteWorkshop faculty member will prepare a critique and coach and consult with you on a pre-scheduled, weekly basis.

College Admissions Essays

Get the writing and editing assistance your student may need to complete his or her college admissions essays. High school students working with us have secured admissions to Cornell, NYU, Boston University, Tulane, Bowdoin, Reed College, the SUNY universities and many others. We privately work with each student to help them craft their own essays – as with the workshop writers, the student drafts their essays, and we coach, edit and assist them.

Query-writing consultations

Ready to submit your manuscript to agents or editors?  Literary agent, and The WriteWorkshop founder, Jeff Ourvan offers query-writing consultations to help ensure your submission has the most effective marketing launch.  The consultations include an overview of important query-writing points and review and edits of the query prior to submission.

Ghostwriting

Hire us to write or edit your book! The WriteWorkshop faculty are experienced and accomplished ghostwriters and are available on a private, project-by-project basis to assist authors looking for ghostwriters or editors to help complete their novels or memoirs.

Contact us directly for more information and fees for any of these services.

Editing

For writers serious about publishing their works but not available to attend the workshop sessions, Jeff also offers full, virtual editing services for authors of both fiction and nonfiction manuscripts. Here’s how it works: After reading and reviewing your work, Jeff provides detailed chapter-by-chapter analyses from the broad perspectives of plot, narrative development, characterization, point of view, pace, setting, voice and structure. Suggested revisions are set forth in comprehensive critiques emailed to each writer, followed by telephone or Skype discussions. In addition, Jeff provides line edits on an electronic copy of the manuscript for further, detailed analysis.
As with the writing workshops, Jeff offers not only suggestions pertaining to craft but also advice, based on his perspective as a working literary agent, with respect to how to best position each manuscript for the broader publishing market.

Contact Jeff for further information, including specific fees for all editing services.
