I’ve had a few people in recent workshops who are aspiring YA authors. So, I thought that for this month’s podcast I would ask the very successful YA author, JC Burke, if she would be my guest and give us the inside story on writing for young adults.
One of the interesting points she makes in this interview is not to get hooked up on the fact that you are writing for young people. The key is to have a protagonist the same age as your anticipated reader, but getting too caught up in what might be acceptable to the age group can easily cause you to over edit.
